‘Climbing, Iran, and Me’ a film by Shirin Shabestari 19th January - this event has passed. Shirin Sabestari spent her childhood growing up in Iran and in a country where ‘freedom’ can be unattainable but she was lucky enough to spend much of it in the mountains where she could feel free. This experience would come to shape her future as she dreamt of bigger adventures. Today Shirin lives in London with her family and in this talk she will explain just how climbing changed her life when growing up and how its impact is still being felt now that she has her own children. Shirin’s passion for the mountains and Iran is now very much part of her life and she has run 3 expeditions to explore the country. During the talk, she will also show the film Damavand which is 15 mins long and will touch on the three expeditions and cover topics such as general travel info, safety and security and restrictions.
